I’m an environmental studies graduate, community builder, and lifelong student of the relationships that shape the world around us.

I earned my degree in Environmental Studies with a certificate in Data Analytics and Visualization from the University of South Carolina. My education was intentionally interdisciplinary because the challenges I cared about never seemed to fit neatly within one discipline. I studied environmental justice, food systems, water, ecosystems, policy, economics, biology, chemistry, and the ways these pieces continually influence one another.

During college, I became especially interested in the space where environmental and social systems meet. I wanted to understand not only how environmental problems emerge, but why some communities experience them more intensely, how power influences the decisions we make about land and resources, and what it might look like to build something different.

For a long time, I imagined that the answer was to work within or create a nonprofit. I was drawn to the idea of building an organization around environmental justice, community education, and collective action. But as I moved beyond the classroom and began gaining experience in environmental education, conservation, community engagement, and organizing, my thinking started to change.

I began questioning the assumption that meaningful change always needs to take the form of an organization, a program, or a defined solution.

Instead, I became increasingly interested in systems: the relationships, patterns, histories, structures, and conditions that allow things to emerge in the first place. I started thinking less about how to build the perfect organization and more about how we might create spaces where people can listen, connect, experiment, reflect, and act together.

That shift has shaped how I approach my work today. I’m interested in environmental and social change not as separate problems to solve, but as interconnected living systems that we are already a part of. I’m drawn to approaches that make room for curiosity, emergence, creativity, reciprocity, and collective learning.

My work and interests continue to move between environmental education, conservation, community engagement, data and mapping, creative practice, and systems thinking. I don’t have everything figured out and I’m increasingly comfortable with that. I see learning as an ongoing practice rather than something that ended when I graduated. More than anything, I’m interested in what becomes possible when we learn to see our connections differently and then act from that understanding.
