C.A.R.E.™ - Collective Action for Reciprocity and Care

The Sustainable Interconnection Initiative (SII) represents the early foundations of my long-term goal to establish a not-for-profit organization rooted in the values described on my leadership page. Centered on my personal framework of Sustainable Interconnection, this initiative invites everyone to explore what it means to live in alignment with ecological, social, and spiritual interconnectedness. This section of the website includes my mission, core values, and outreach efforts such as blog posts, photography, and reflections that offer a glimpse into the future work and vision of SII as a platform for collective learning and community healing.

​​​​​​​​​​​Since graduating, expanding my network, and gaining hands-on experience through volunteering and work, I’ve grown into a new chapter of my journey. This growth has inspired a rebranding of my platform into Collective Action for Reciprocity and Equity (C.A.R.E.).

Through this evolution, I’ve come to deeply understand the power of collective action and the importance of reciprocity and equity in creating meaningful change. C.A.R.E. represents not just a name shift, but a step forward into a more grounded, community-centered vision for environmental and social justice.

Mapping Environmental Justice with Esri

​My skills in data visualization and analysis include experience with Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute), an American geographic information system (GIS) software. Showcased below is a StoryMap I created that explores the health of my local watershed and highlights advocacy pathways to help protect it.

My Instagram page, @serenesolitude21, was created when I was 21 years old as an outlet to share my adventures in nature. As I grew in my academic journey, it evolved into a space where I explore nature’s virtues and reflect on how mindfulness, knowledge, and compassion can deepen our philosophy of an interconnected world.

Rhizomatic Empathy Building

How can we expand our capacities for empathy building? 

My framework for how we can root empathy is something beyond a simple transactional event but a tool for community empowerment, social transformation, and simple wonder and enjoyment. This framework is interconnected with ecological resilience, public health, learning theory, and community well-being.

Policy Advocacy and Campaign Planning

This selection features a mock policy campaign I developed for the Environmental Justice and Accountability Planning (EJAP) Bill, a conceptual bill that has not been formally introduced in the South Carolina House. Designed as part of a capstone project, this campaign reflects real-world strategies used to advance environmental justice through legislation. It includes a power map, messaging materials, and grassroots engagement tools aimed at requiring environmental justice assessments in permitting decisions.

Study Abroad Reflections

​This blog reflects the first out of two semesters I spent as an exchange student at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). Here, you’ll find personal reflections, photos, and journal entries that explore the cultural, ecological, and academic experiences that shaped my time on the island. From field trips to coral reefs to community events rooted in Caribbean identity, this blog captures the deep learning and growth I experienced both inside and outside the classroom.
